Many times new dancers are apprehensive about learning multiple dances. I know from personal experience, when starting my own dance journey. Starting with multiple dance styles was extremely beneficial to my overall dancing and technique building.
When I started formally learning partner dances, I started with Salsa and Bachata. A few months later I added Argentine Tango and Kizomba. Shortly after embarking on 4 different dances, my life schedule forced me to drop two because of time restraints. After ending up dropping Bachata and Salsa for a short period of time, I was worried that when I came back that it would be like starting from the beginning again. I was assured that if anything I would actually be better, not in the figures but in my over all technique. Well that was correct. After a few months we went to a Latin Social and follower were asking me have you been dancing a lot. They said that my lead got so strong, I was amazed.
I recommend taking as many different dances as you would care to as a beginner. I know from experience it will only help your overall dance skills as they build on each other. Take the time and Google the Benefits of learning different types of dance styles as there are many good articles about the subject. Whether you want to learn Salsa, Bachata, Argentine Tango, Brazilian Zouk, Kizomba and more, feel confident that I, Eddie as well as the rest of the Sunset Dance Studios team are here and ready to assist you in your dance journey.
